This is My Story

Wow!  Is this me?  I don’t think it’s so bad.  But I would be happy if I could see an even prettier version of me.  That’s why I decided to take some risks to look into my skin.  

As you can see, my skin has been beat up over several decades.  My mother always told me in my teenage years, “When you were a baby, your whole body, except your face, was covered by dry eczema skin.  Your face was soft and pretty.”   Technically, she was very disappointed by my oily acne face at that time.  I could not help or stop the acne from appearing on my face although I washed it over and over again.  Fortunately, I grew out of it in my mid-20s.  

In the meantime, my father didn’t like makeup on my mother’s and grandmother's faces.  His mean voice was annoying: “Why do you have to put makeup on when you are at home?” Making their faces beautiful was silently prohibited in my household.  Because of this, I was afraid to be interested in paying attention to my own skin.  I have been exposed to the strong sun during summer times, let my skin dry in the winter times, I never put cold pads on my eyes after big cries, and I had no idea how to put on any fancy makeups on before the Senior Graduation Party in College.  

Around the same time I graduated from college, my mother started sending me a basic facial cream.  To this day, she still sends it to me. It actually is a great product.  But I really didn’t care about what I had been using until I saw my face carefully on the mirror.  Part of me said, “I am pretty enough.  It’s ok,”  while another part of me whispered, “My skin looks tired.  If there is something I can do to radiate my skin, I should try it.  Today will never come back.”  Well, the second voice won.

I have become curious about Rodan + Fields since I noticed some posts on my friend Tara’s Facebook page.  If Tara says it’s good, it is.  So, here we go. I am excited (and a bit nervous!) to start my skin journey with Rodan+Fields premier skin company as my kit arrives….
